Setting a new high for the iconic hybrid supercar.
Former Van Halen frontman and car enthusiast Sammy Hagar has sold his highly coveted 2015 Ferrari LaFerrari for an impressive $4.675 million at Barrett-Jackson’s Scottsdale Fall Auction. Hagar’s LaFerrari, finished in a unique cream exterior with a matching interior, marks one of the most significant sales of the LaFerrari model, which originally debuted as Ferrari's first hybrid supercar.
Powered by a 6.3-liter V-12 paired with a 120-kW KERS system, the LaFerrari generates 950 horsepower, rocketing from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Despite this performance prowess, Hagar found the car to be too much for his driving needs, leading to its sale after having only 1,566 miles on the odometer.
Hagar’s LaFerrari stood out not only for its exceptional condition but also for the celebrity connection and the rare, personalized details, such as his initials on the steering wheel. Initially scheduled for auction in January 2024, the car’s sale was delayed due to a battery replacement, but once resolved, it crossed the block on October 12, just before Hagar’s 77th birthday.
With LaFerrari prices fluctuating in the market, Hagar’s example fetched a higher-than-average price, showcasing the model's enduring appeal. As Ferrari introduces the hybrid V-6 F80 as the LaFerrari’s successor, collectors are left wondering how prices for these iconic supercars will shift in the future.
