Ringbrothers' 'Invadr' Grand National: A 1,246-HP Buick Resto-Mod Beast

Ringbrothers’ “Invadr” Buick Grand National brings a staggering 1,246 horsepower.

The Buick Grand National is a legendary muscle car that’s become an icon among car enthusiasts, but the custom builders at Ringbrothers have taken it to an entirely new level with their latest creation: the "Invadr." Unveiled at the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas, this 1987 Buick Grand National resto-mod retains the car’s iconic style while packing a stunning 1,246 horsepower punch under the hood.

In traditional Ringbrothers style, the Invadr balances performance with aesthetics. This project took nearly 5,000 hours to complete, yet the modifications are subtle at first glance. Custom stainless steel front and rear bumpers with aluminum inserts provide a refined look, while the body sports reshaped fenders and a sleek carbon fiber hood, side mirrors, and rear spoiler. Painted in “Dark Vader Gray,” the car exudes a stealthy vibe, shifting between black and charcoal hues under different lighting. HRE 19- and 20-inch wheels complete the look, paying homage to the original Buick 10-spoke design.

Where many resto-mods opt for V8 power, Ringbrothers kept the Grand National's roots intact by retaining a 3.8-liter V6 engine. However, this isn’t just any V6—it's an all-aluminum Duttweiler Performance version equipped with twin 62mm Precision turbos, producing 32psi of boost. With this setup and a Bowler Tremec six-speed manual transmission, the Invadr outputs a jaw-dropping 1,246 horsepower. And for those who crave even more, dialing the boost up to 50psi can unleash nearly 2,000hp. Co-founder Mike Ring calls the car's acceleration “nothing short of violent,” declaring it one of the fastest builds they’ve ever crafted.

Inside the carbon-fiber-lined trunk, Ringbrothers integrated nitrogen-powered air jacks for quick tire changes—a practical addition for a car with the power to shred tires in seconds. This functional detail highlights Ringbrothers' thoughtful design approach, blending extreme performance with convenience for enthusiasts who plan to push the Invadr to its limits.

Ringbrothers' "Invadr" is a true testament to the possibilities of modern resto-mods, combining classic style with unprecedented power. This unique build not only pays homage to the original Grand National’s heritage but also establishes itself as a modern marvel, showcasing what’s possible with dedication, innovation, and a bold vision.
