The 1970 Dodge Super Bee has long been a beloved icon among muscle car enthusiasts. Now, a unique restoration project has breathed new life into this classic, blending vintage charm with modern performance upgrades. Acquired by its current owner from the reported second owner in 2006, this Super Bee underwent extensive modifications and refurbishment between 2009 and 2023, resulting in a one-of-a-kind driving experience.
Under the hood, this Super Bee now boasts a 6.1-liter Hemi V8 engine sourced from a 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8, complete with a Vortech supercharger and charge-air cooler. The powerplant is paired with a five-speed automatic transmission, ensuring smooth and powerful performance. To handle the increased power, the car features a rack-and-pinion steering system, front coilovers, and an independent rear suspension—all borrowed from the Challenger SRT8 donor car. Brembo disc brakes with slotted rotors at all four corners provide impressive stopping power.
The car's exterior was meticulously refinished in metallic purple, complemented by black accents on the quarter panels, grille, custom chin spoiler, AAR ’Cuda–style rear spoiler, and tail panel. Twin hood scoops, AeroCatch locking hood pins, and aftermarket headlamps add to its aggressive look. The Super Bee rides on powder-coated American Racing wheels, 8×20″ in the front and 10×20″ in the rear, shod with Nitto tires for enhanced grip and performance.
Inside, the Super Bee features bolstered front bucket seats trimmed in black leather with orange stitching, a suede headliner, and a center console. Modern amenities include Vintage Air climate control, power locks, Rostra drive-by-wire cruise control, and a Scytek Electronics alarm system with keyless entry and remote start. The audio system has been upgraded with an Alpine CDE-172BT head unit, six Alpine Type S speakers, and an Alpine MRV-F300 four-channel amplifier, providing high-quality sound.
The dashboard houses Mopar-branded AutoMeter gauges, including a 160-mph speedometer with Abbott Enterprises GPS, a 10k-rpm tachometer, and various other gauges to monitor the car's vital statistics. The Tuff-style steering wheel is mounted on an Ididit tilting column, offering comfort and control. The digital odometer reads 1,500 miles, though the true mileage is unknown.
The 6.1-liter Hemi V8 engine, equipped with a Vortech V-3 supercharger, is complemented by a Hotwire Auto wiring harness, Champion four-row aluminum radiator, Optima Red Top battery, and Ringbrothers billet aluminum hood hinges. The car was professionally tuned by OST Dyno in Slippery Rock, Pennsylvania, and comes with an HP Tuners MPVI3 OBDII tuning interface, allowing for further customization and performance tweaks.
