Rare Barn Find Unearths Trio of Dodge Daytonas and More Muscle Car Treasures

In what may be one of the most remarkable barn finds in recent memory, a collection of rare American muscle cars—including not one but three Dodge Daytonas—has been discovered hidden in a secluded location, stirring up excitement across the classic car community.

Documented by Ryan Brutt of Auto Archaeology, the jaw-dropping discovery includes a one-of-one 1969 Dodge Daytona finished in black with red stripes and equipped with a 440-cubic-inch V8 and a four-speed manual transmission—an incredibly rare configuration that makes it a holy grail for Mopar collectors. Brutt, known for his deep dives into forgotten automotive history, shared the find through photos and video that quickly went viral among enthusiasts.

A second green 1969 Daytona was also uncovered, complete with its original 440 engine and automatic transmission, while a third example—red and previously restored—rounded out the trio. All three vehicles were tucked away in the same rural barn, undisturbed for years.

“These are the kinds of discoveries you dream about,” said Brutt. “Finding one Daytona would be huge. Finding three is simply unheard of.”

The barn held more than just Daytonas. Also found was a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS 383 four-speed, though in rough condition, and a 1970 Dodge Charger R/T automatic. Rounding out the impressive Mopar lineup was a 1967 Dodge Polara convertible and a Dodge Li’l Red Express, another beloved classic truck from the muscle era.

Most of the cars remained largely intact, despite years of dust and neglect, and many retained original components—a rarity in today’s collector market.

As Dodge ushers in its next chapter with the 2024 electric Charger Daytona, finds like this underscore the irreplaceable charm and mechanical muscle of the originals that ruled NASCAR and street scenes alike.

Collectors and restorers are already eyeing the barn’s treasure trove, hoping these long-lost classics will soon return to the road where they belong.
