The legend has great taste in cars!
Hagerty, Inc. (NYSE: HGTY), renowned as the leading provider of specialty vehicle insurance and a major brand for auto enthusiasts, has announced the auction of the George Foreman Collection on the Hagerty Marketplace. This exclusive online event features over 50 collector cars, spanning from the 1930s to the present day, all offered without reserve. The auction lots are set to close between December 11th and December 21st, with several cars ending each weekday.
George Foreman, celebrated as a former Olympic gold medalist and two-time heavyweight boxing champion, is not only a legend in the boxing ring but also an avid car collector. With a record of 76 wins in 81 fights, including 68 knockouts, Foreman has also achieved commercial success with his George Foreman Grill, selling over 100 million units globally. Recently, he was the subject of a major motion picture biopic, "Big George Foreman," released this past summer.
Speaking about his passion for cars, Foreman stated, "I have been a car collector and enthusiast most of my life, but now is the time to share my cars with other enthusiasts. Offering them through Hagerty Marketplace allows them to reach a wide audience of over a million enthusiasts, ensuring they receive the attention they deserve."
Kenneth Ahn, President of Hagerty Marketplace, expressed his excitement about hosting the collection: "It is an honor to feature Mr. George Foreman's collection on our platform. Our team has meticulously prepared each car for auction, and we expect strong interest from the Hagerty community. This collection showcases the expanding influence and capabilities of the Hagerty Marketplace."
The George Foreman Collection features vehicles that have been in long-term storage, with some requiring mechanical attention. Bidders are advised to consult the Additional Documents section for each lot to understand recent services performed. Notably, some of the vehicles exhibit corrosion due to soot from a 2019 garage fire. While there was no direct fire damage, the cosmetic effects are evident in detailed photos and descriptions. All vehicles are sold as-is, and bidders are encouraged to conduct their due diligence.
Cason Vogel, a Hagerty Marketplace Car Specialist, noted the uniqueness and diversity of the Foreman Collection. Key highlights include a 1931 Ford Model A Cabriolet A400 and a 2005 Ford GT. The Ford GT, a single-owner vehicle with less than 790 miles, boasts a Mark IV Red paint job, Ebony Black leather interior, and all four optional features. Another standout is the 2000 BMW Z8, a rare Topaz Blue Metallic over Crema and Black interior, owned by Foreman since new. The collection also features modern Ferraris, including a 2002 Ferrari 360 Modena and a 1987 Ferrari Testarossa.
This auction presents an unparalleled opportunity for classic car enthusiasts to own a piece of automotive history, carefully curated by one of the sports world's most iconic figures. Prospective buyers can participate in this unique auction through the Hagerty Marketplace, bidding on their favorite pieces from the diverse and meticulously maintained George Foreman Collection.
