Ford is paying homage to American innovation and Mustang’s 60-year legacy with the launch of the Mustang GTD Spirit of America, a special edition supercar that combines race-proven engineering with patriotic design.
This exclusive model builds upon the Mustang GTD, a road-legal version of the GT3 race car that recently made history with a sub-7-minute lap at the Nürburgring, becoming the first American production vehicle to achieve such a feat. With 815 horsepower under its hood, the Spirit of America edition is a testament to Ford’s pursuit of global performance dominance.
Inspired by Greatness
The Spirit of America’s aesthetic draws from the pioneering spirit of Craig Breedlove, an aerospace engineer who shattered land speed records in the 1960s with his Spirit of America vehicle. Ford honors Breedlove’s legacy with a Performance White body accented by Race Red and Lightning Blue stripes, reminiscent of the iconic Mustang Tribar emblem and Breedlove’s racing overalls.
This Mustang GTD edition integrates extensive exposed carbon fiber for its aerodynamics, including the front splitter, rear diffuser, and rear spoiler. The spoiler features Race Red end plates and a bold MUSTANG wordmark, while optional Race Red mirror caps match the brake calipers for a cohesive design. Standard on this edition is the Mustang GTD Performance Package, optimizing the car’s track capability.
