No, not again…
On November 27 a garage fire near Denton, Nebraska has taken out a nice collection of classic cars and vintage motorcycles. Damages from the blaze are estimated at over $1 million, an amount which seems staggering. However, just a few nice classic vehicles can easily be worth that much. Whatever was stored in there sounds to be a complete loss and that’s really too bad.

Reportedly, the collection was mostly constituted of classic Corvettes. Housed inside the garage were ‘Vettes from the 1956, 1958, 1962, and 1969 model years. The other classic cars in the garage were a 1959 Cadillac, 1976 Jeep, 1971 Datsun, 1968 Plymouth, 1964 Jaguar, and 1959 Chevy El Camino. Sorry, but reports don’t mention more information.
There were also 4 vintage Harley-Davidson motorcycles in the structure at the time of the blaze.
Too often we hear about fires which take out entire collections of classic cars and vintage motorcycles. To be honest, we hate covering these stories since they’re such downers. But we do it anyway as a reminder to everybody else to not only have good insurance for your vehicles, but also to install some fire suppression measures wherever you store your cars.
Thankfully, the garage which burned is detached from the house. Losing your beloved cars is awful, but losing your house at the same time is enough to push a lot of people over the edge. Also, nobody was injured or killed, which is the most important part. Still, it’s sad to hear about yet another devasting fire which wiped out someone’s beloved car collection.
The local sheriff told media the fire’s cause had been determined to be accidental.
