A Cadillac Eldorado custom-built for Elvis Presley, shaped like a guitar, is now up for sale on eBay.
A unique piece of Elvis Presley’s automotive history is now up for sale, as the 1970 Cadillac Eldorado known as the "Guitar Car" has been listed on eBay. Custom built by legendary car designer Jay Ohrberg, the vehicle was famously driven by Presley himself to one of his Las Vegas concerts, creating a memorable spectacle for fans.
The "Guitar Car" is the result of a two-year project by Ohrberg, who modified the Cadillac by slicing it in half and extending the chassis with a custom "fretboard" section. To complete the guitar motif, the car was outfitted with faux tuners, strings, and jet-inspired rear fins. The modifications transformed the already imposing Eldorado into a rolling tribute to Presley’s musical legacy.
Underneath its dramatic exterior, the car retains its factory 8.2-liter Cadillac 500 V8 engine, known for delivering 400 horsepower and an impressive 550 lb-ft of torque. This powerhouse is paired with a 3-speed automatic transmission, a standard offering for Eldorados of that era. At nearly 4,700 pounds, the car was built to cruise in style—and the extensive modifications added even more presence to its already commanding size.
Originally produced during an era when Cadillac prioritized powerful, large-displacement engines, the 1970 Eldorado stood as a symbol of American luxury and performance. With Ohrberg’s creative reimagining, the "Guitar Car" became a one-of-a-kind artifact linking rock 'n' roll and automotive culture.
The vehicle currently resides at the Hollywood Cars Museum by Jay Ohrberg but is now seeking a new owner. With its celebrity connection, extraordinary design, and unique place in pop culture history, the "Guitar Car" offers collectors a rare opportunity to own a literal piece of Elvis Presley’s show-stopping style.
