A Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat Jailbreak recently turned heads at Cecil County Dragway with a blistering 9.81-second quarter-mile pass, overpowering both a Chrysler 300 and a custom Mustang in a dramatic pair of drag races.
Captured by YouTuber James Joiner, the video shows the tuned Hellcat dominating the strip at the Maryland-based drag racing venue. Armed with minor performance tweaks — including a smaller supercharger pulley, upgraded tires, and a custom tune from HHP (High Horse Performance) — the Challenger proved that even modest modifications can produce supercar-slaying results.
The first test came against a Chrysler 300, a once-luxurious full-size sedan that had long shared its platform with the Charger and Challenger. While the exact elapsed time for the Chrysler wasn’t visible due to the camera angle, the Hellcat clocked an impressive 10.18 seconds at 142 mph, narrowly edging out its Mopar cousin in a tight race.
The next matchup brought a red, heavily modified Ford Mustang coupe to the line. The Mustang leapt off the start with a dramatic wheelie, only to red-light the run. Despite the early launch, the Hellcat blazed through the finish with its best pass of the day — 9.81 seconds at 141 mph. The Mustang followed at 10.02 seconds, topping out at 116 mph.
These runs underscore the enduring appeal of ICE-powered muscle cars, even as Stellantis and other automakers transition to electrification. With the Dodge Challenger and Chrysler 300 now officially out of production, this Jailbreak serves as a potent reminder of what American muscle could do with a little tuning — and a lot of throttle.
