Carbon-Fiber 'Scorched' 1969 Mustang Set to Debut in March 2025

The carbon-fiber recreation of the 1969 Ford Mustang, named "Scorched," combines modern engineering with classic muscle car heritage.

The 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1, an icon of American muscle car history, is getting a high-tech, modern revival with Scorched, a fully carbon-fiber recreation set to debut in March 2025. This innovative take on the legendary Mustang is the brainchild of Jason Engel, founder of Trick Rides, whose expertise in muscle-car builds has culminated in one of the most ambitious resto-mod projects to date.

Unlike traditional restorations, the Scorched Mustang is engineered entirely using Computer Aided Design (CAD) and constructed with pre-impregnated carbon fiber for unmatched strength and weight savings. Each of the 20 limited-edition models features a widebody design that maintains the classic lines of the 1969 Mustang while incorporating modern performance enhancements. The exterior boasts flush-mounted glass, Ringbrothers billet-aluminum accents, and LED taillights, ensuring that the Scorched Mustang turns heads wherever it goes.

Underpinning the carbon-fiber body is a Roadster Shop chassis equipped with an independent front suspension and a parallel four-link rear setup, complemented by oversized sway bars for exceptional handling. Stopping power comes from Baer Brakes with six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers, while three-piece Forgeline wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888R Z-rated tires provide grip.

For power, Trick Rides offers buyers a choice of three potent V-8 engines: a VMP Performance-supercharged 5.0-liter Coyote, a Jon Kaase 429ci “Boss Nine,” or a Ford Performance 427. Each engine is paired with a Tremec T-56 six-speed manual transmission and features Stainless Works headers and MagnaFlow mufflers, delivering ferocious performance to match the Scorched Mustang’s striking aesthetics.

Priced from $429,000, these Mustangs will be built in Trick Rides’ 31,000-square-foot workshop in Yukon, Oklahoma. The first example, painted in Scorched Red, is eagerly awaited as it promises to redefine the resto-mod landscape by combining cutting-edge materials and design with the enduring allure of the classic 1969 Mustang.

“I’ve built over 600 Mustangs throughout my career, but this project stands out,” says Jason Engel. “With the freedom to use advanced technology, Scorched represents the Mustang of my dreams.”

Pre-orders are now open for this modern masterpiece, offering collectors and enthusiasts an unparalleled blend of classic muscle and 21st-century innovation.
