This head to head showdown is a battle of American muscle and Japanese engineering.
America, land of the free home of the brave - over here in the states, we love our cars. The roaring sound of a loud V8 combined with the raw power and exceptional quarter-mile passes have made all of us American car enthusiasts (those who love American cars) hungry for more. Fortunately, the competition never seems to end when you drive a big American muscle car as there will always be someone thinking in their head “yeah I could take that”. No, no you could not. While other cars put out comparable or even more power, none can tango with the best of the best that America has to offer.
This is because, while other cars are designed and perfectly crafted on the track to fit that purpose, American cars were bred on the streets. On imperfect roads and dirt tracks, the
American icons we know and love today were born. However, some still undertake the arduous task of challenging our beloved muscle and pony cars. This is best exemplified by today's subject in which two of the world's most popular performance cars went head to head to test each other's strengths.
In one corner we have a Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 which boasts power from a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 which is putting out around 650 horses to the rear wheels. This is contrasted by its sleek competitor, a current-generation Acura NSX. Sitting between the axles of this JDM icon is a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 with three electric motors which produce around 573 horsepower and 476 ft/lbs of torque. This sent the NSX down the strip at an impressive 11.5 seconds. Unfortunately, for the NSX, the Camaro has about 650 horsepower which is drawn from the supercharged 6.2-liter V8. That incredible power sent the car down the track in just 11 seconds flat.
