This throwback paint scheme will be available on both the GT350 and the GT350R.
It's been 55 years since Carroll Shelby first created the now-iconic 1965 Shelby GT350, Ford is celebrating this car's legacy with an all-new Heritage Edition package available on the 2020 Shelby GT350 and GT350R. Ford says that the Heritage Edition package will only be available in a "limited run," but it did not give specifics as far as expected production numbers. What it did announce is pricing for this throwback appearance package, which will cost just $1,965.
For that price, the Heritage Edition package delivers a throwback paint scheme that consists of a Wimbledon White paint job accented by Guardsman Blue stripes that run the full length of the car as well as along the sides. In addition to the colors, these limited-edition models will also get exclusive front and rear badging (in Guardsman Blue), and each car will get unique dash badges. The GT350R models with this package will upgrade to all-black seats with red contrast stitching.
Although this is just an appearance package, it does an excellent job of replicating the look of the '65 GT350, which can be seen in this vintage Carroll Shelby video with Pete Brock behind the wheel. Ford also points out that this car's legendary status began when Ken Miles took the checkered flag in a Shelby GT350 on February 14, 1965.
“Looking back on it, what Ford and Carroll Shelby created back in the mid-’60s was so important to Mustang. With their authentic exterior livery, unique appointments and performance Ken could have only dreamed of, the Mustang Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition Package vehicles are a meaningful tribute to the legacy of the Shelby brand,” Jim Owens, Ford Mustang marketing manager
Customers can order the new 2020 Shelby GT350 and GT350R Heritage Edition at Ford dealers now, but the cars won't be arriving until Spring 2020.
