Rollin' coal and smokin' tires!
What do you get when you cross a retired 2007 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor with the 6.0-liter Power Stroke V8 out of a 2005 Ford shuttle bus? A badass coal-rolling, tire-smoking sedan that can run the quarter mile in the 12-second range!
After seeing Duramax-swapped Camaros and Cummins-swapped Chargers, the owner of this Crown Vic embarked on an epic journey to cram the monster 6.0L Power Stroke into the engine compartment designed for Ford's modular 4.6-liter V8. Despite the size difference between the two engines, the transplant required surprisingly few modifications to the Crown Vic or its swapped drivetrain.
The biggest sacrifice was the Power Stroke's intercooler wouldn't fit in the engine compartment, but other minor modifications include firewall "tweaks," some grinding on the transmission housing and relocation of some sensors and engine computers. The hard work paid off as the Crown Vic's original 224-horsepower was almost doubled to 450 horsepower (at the rear wheels), and not only is this car capable of doing a quarter-mile in the mid-12s, it still gets around 20 mpg!
Remarkably, with the exception of a massive cowl-inducted hood and some sooty exhaust, the end result is definitely something that will have you double checking your speedometer as it rolls up behind you. The all-black paint job and factory steel wheels leave this Crown Vic looking like an unmarked police car, and even the car's three-inch lift – required to allow clearance for the engine's oil pan – is well hidden in the design.
