Forth-generation Toyota Supras are sell for big bucks these days, but how long before the MK3 follows suit?
Have you seen the crazy prices fourth-generation Toyota Supras are selling for at auction at the moment? Earlier this year at an RM Sotheby’s event the hammer fell at over $176,000 for a near perfect example of the iconic Japanese coupe, sparking a chain reaction of rising values. Still want a great Supra, but don’t want to spend crazy money? Check out this third-generation car heading to auction with Leake.
The A70 Toyota Supra of the late 1980s and early 1990s was actually the first standalone car to wear the Supra nameplate — previous Supras were derivatives of the Celica. This rear-wheel drive sports car with its prominent wedge shape came in several variants, with this red car being the more potent turbocharged model. Turbo cars can be distinguished by their integrated boot spoiler for managing airflow at speed. It looks to be in great condition with its highly polish paint appearing untouched.

The interior is similarly impressive with grey leather seats sporting a few creases, but generally the cabin is unblemished. While there isn’t loads of space for rear occupants, a pair of seats and a large trunk actually makes this Supra a practical modern classic to own. A big bonus of this particular Supra is that it features a removable targa top for some alfresco motoring on summer days.
Under that lengthy hood is a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engine that’s good for 231-horsepower. A five-speed manual transmission makes this the enthusiasts choice, with he automatic model better suited to cruising the highway. Being a more modern classic, its new owner benefits from luxuries such as power steering, power brakes, and power windows. An aftermarket touchscreen infotainment system has been installed on this example, adding navigation to the specification.
This Toyota Supra Turbo hits the auction block on Friday June 7, 2019. You can check it out in our classifieds.
