From Escorts to Mustangs, Ford fans will love the lots heading to Classic Car Auction's Marche event.
There is something wonderfully classless about a ‘fast Ford’ as these four-wheeled heroes were not only quick enough to impress, but also affordable to the everyman. You, your friends, even your mother if she wanted, could have a slice of this attainable performance. Classic Car Auctions is to put four iconic fast Fords under the hammer at its March 23-24, 2019 sale.
The undoubted star of the show is a 1977 Ford Escort RS2000 X- Pack, which looks fantastically menacing. This car is often said to be the ultimate MK2 Escort bringing Group 1 rally performance to the road via a 150hp X-Pack engine kit. This example has been owned by the same family for 30 years, and is in great condition having been dry stored. It has an estimate of £30,000 - £38,000 ($40,000 - $50,000).
Another sporty Escort listed is a 1983 RS1600i that has undergone a nut and bolt restoration. The car’s recommissioning is well documented and was carried out by a marque specialist. Just 95 of these racy Fords are still on UK roads making this 79,000-mile example a rare sight. It could be yours for around £20,000 - £25,000 ($26,000 - $33,000).
On of the most iconic fast Fords of the 1980s was the Fiesta XR2. Complete with its bulging bodykit, pinstripe, and rally lights, this example has covered 80,000 miles. When new, the hot hatchback had a cult following from young men wanting to go fast on a budget. It is expected that this car will sell for £6000 - £8000 ($8000 - $10,000).
The final iconic blue oval comes from America in the form of a 1968 Ford Mustang CS GTS. This pony car’s fiberglass trunk, 'ducktail' spoiler, and blacked-out grille distinguishes it from lesser Mustangs. Powered by a 289 Edelbrock V8 engine, this classic has covered 105,000 well documented miles. Live the American dream for £20,000 - £25,000 ($26,000 - $33,000).
These fast Fords and more will hit the Classic Car Auction block March 23-24, 2019.
