The 2025 Ram 1500 RHO delivers robust dyno numbers, showcasing the power of its high-output Hurricane engine and off-road versatility.
Hennessey Performance Engineering has tested the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO on the dyno, revealing strong baseline performance for the truck that replaces the Ram TRX. Featuring the high-output 3.0-liter Hurricane inline-six engine, the RHO boasts 540 horsepower and 521 lb-ft of torque at the crank, with the dyno recording 461.2 horsepower and 484.1 lb-ft at the wheels. These figures equate to 85.4 percent of the advertised crank horsepower and an impressive 92.91 percent for torque, demonstrating the Hurricane engine’s efficiency and potential.
Although slightly less powerful than its predecessor, the 6.2-liter supercharged HEMI V8 in the TRX, the RHO holds its own. For comparison, the TRX delivered 583.54 rear-wheel horsepower and 570.95 lb-ft of torque in similar tests. While “no replacement for displacement” rings true for raw power, the RHO offers a modernized approach with improved fuel efficiency and a solid balance of capability and performance.
The RHO retains much of the TRX’s off-road DNA, starting with 35-inch all-terrain tires and Bilstein dampers with three-stage jounce control. It boasts an 11.8-inch ground clearance and better approach and departure angles than the TRX. The truck’s torque split adapts from 50:50 in low-speed scenarios to a rear-heavy 70:30 for its most aggressive driving mode.
Looking ahead, Hennessey is expected to unleash aftermarket upgrades for the RHO. Potential enhancements could include less restrictive intake and exhaust systems, improved cooling, increased boost, and advanced transmission tuning. Visual upgrades like custom bumpers, decals, and embroidered headrests are also likely, along with options for a leveling kit and 37-inch tires.
With its robust dyno performance and off-road readiness, the 2025 Ram 1500 RHO proves it’s more than a worthy successor to the TRX, setting the stage for a new era of performance trucks.
