Callaway is a name we love to hear when it come to the Corvette.
Callaway is one of the top names when it comes to Corvette tuning, if not the top name, but we’re not going to step on anyone’s toes here. So when we hear about Callaway doing something with the Corvette, we can’t help but to get as excited as a Golden Retriever when the doorbell rings. They’re finally getting their hands dirty with he C8 Corvette, and we’ll get to see it this week at the annual Corvettes at Carlisle gathering in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.
Renderings showing the 2021 Callaway Corvette Launch Edition give us a taste of what to expect. The hints include new aero elements, said to be made from carbon fiber, wheels, and exhaust tips.
As far as the really ‘good stuff’, the meat of the build, we’ve picked up some hinted about that too. Callaway has developed a ported intake manifold, high-flow air intake, custom exhaust. We’re not sure what kind of power figures this will add up to, but it would be disappointing if it didn’t push the Chevy Corvette C8 closer to the 600 horsepower range, up from the 490 or 495 horsepower you get stock, dependent on the exhaust.
We’re also looking forward to see what Callaway can do for the upcoming Z06, given the magic they pulled on the C7Z - pulling the 650-horsepower rating into the 757-horsepower zone.
