The Cabarrus County Sheriff’s Office is working to get word out about a red 1972 Pontiac Lemans GTO convertible which was reported stolen back on September 9. We want to make readers aware of this car since we know everyone peruses online sales listings, goes to meets, and sees a lot of vehicles all the time with the hope someone will recognize this ride.

As reported by Fox 8, the sheriff’s department says the ’72 Pontiac Lemans GTO was swiped in northwestern Cabarrus County on the weekend of September 9. We’re guessing since there isn’t an exact date that either the owners weren’t home for much of the weekend or that they didn’t check on the vehicle for a day or two.
Deputies apparently were able to ascertain the stolen GTO was in Rowan County after it was boosted, however it sounds like the trail has grown a little cold. That doesn’t mean someone won’t recognize it and the heat is back on the lovely individuals who think they can help themselves to other people’s stuff.
The report adds a detail about this classic Pontiac, that the exhaust on it is “very loud and noticeable.” As gearheads we definitely stand up and notice particularly aggressive exhausts, especially those that don’t sound shrill, so that’s a good detail to note.
We must take this chance to remind readers yet again that thieves really want your classic cars. With values continuing to stay at levels which make most people choke, crooks want to swipe yours and make bank. Do everything you reasonably can to secure your ride lest someone takes it.
