The Barn Find Hunter is at it again.
In this episode of Barn Find Hunter, Tom Cotter decides to visit a guy he met years before, called Snowball Bishop. The man collects all kinds of interesting cars and has just as interesting of stories, so Tom wants to get some more interactions with him on camera.
Tucked away somewhere in rural Virginia is Snowball’s property, which of course is surrounded by a selection of parted-out cars. We all see these types of automotive graveyards on in random fields, but Tom is the type of person who goes and talks to the owners to find out more.
While Snowball certainly has plenty of vehicles most people would call junk, inside his garage he keeps two beautiful 1964 Ford Galaxies. The first is literally a barn find, a blue 390 Snowball did a frame-off restoration himself. It looks absolutely beautiful now and has everything original, including the hubcaps, showing that the elderly man really knows his stuff.
The other ‘64 Ford Galaxie is a white hardtop Snowball purchased in 1968, saying back then Galaxies were a dime a dozen. Instead of restoring the car, Snowball has kept it in excellent survivor condition. Just as amazing is what the man paid for the two cars. The barn find cost $500, while the Galaxie he bought when it was 4 years-old cost $250.
Another cool highlight is a late ‘30s Ford Coupe stock racer Snowball has sitting in his yard. The engine is out and the front end of the body is gone, fully exposing the wide slicks mounted on the front axle. Originally, the Ford was running a flathead V8, until Snowball bought a 426 Wedge engine from Richard Petty himself. Using that engine, he was able to capture the championship, where before he was outclassed by the Chevrolets on the track.
There’s always a fascinating story on Barn Find Hunter, and this episode has even more, if you want to watch the video toward the top of this post.
