You’re not wrong: it says GMC on the front.
A restomod truck is usually something to really stop and take note of. One that’s for sale and you can buy is even more noteworthy. Even more interesting is a restomod 1961 Chevrolet 4X4 Pickup customized to look like a GMC. There’s so much going on with this truck that it isn’t difficult to be in complete awe.
While the exterior is fun, slightly more interesting is the modernized powertrain. Lurking under the hood is a Jasper V8. It’s not clear if the engine has just been remanufactured or upgraded through Jasper, which provides both services. Either way, it means the Chevy runs strong and smooth, instead of you winning the bid and then having to overhaul this truck. There’s also an automatic transmission and four-wheel drive.
That vibrant two-tone blue and white exterior sure looks nicely polished, while the chrome bumpers, door handles, etc. rival it. Of course, the front fascia has been modified to look more like a GMC of the same era, although it succeeds in creating an aesthetic which is unique. GMC badging is added to the tailgate as well, keeping things consistent. Giving a decidedly modern flair to the truck are new 8-spoke two-tone wheels and aggressive tires, just in case you want to test out the four-wheel drive on some actual dirt.
According to the seller, undergirding everything on this truck is a more modern GM chassis from the 1990 model year. This setup gives the pickup all the structural integrity needed.
Tying the interior with the exterior is the two-tone blue and white interior, including vinyl bench seat. An OE GMC radio from the same era has been fitted in the dash, below the controls for the Vintage Air AC. There’s also the factory-original gauges and a tilt wheel.
