With a modern drivetrain and amenities, this isn’t your ordinary ’69 Chevy Camaro.
Combining classic looks with modern day amenities and technology is an appealing idea, especially from a performance standpoint. Perhaps I’m biased because I’ve done exactly the same with a personal project of mine, but it doesn’t hold a candle to this 1969 Chevrolet Camaro SS Convertible, which features a “no-expense-spared” build.
Fleming’s Ultimate Garage in Rockville, Maryland built this special Camaro and also offers it for sale. They mention that the person who built this serious muscle car spent close to $150,000 on it, and there is documentation for all of it, including receipts and build pictures.
The exterior of this Camaro features Carbon Black Metallic paint from a Corvette, which was recently professionally detailed. The RS front end features electric headlamp doors and a cowl hood, while both the front and rear of the vehicle feature optional spoilers. Additionally, the convertible top on this muscle car is a new item.
As you can expect, the interior on this Chevrolet is flawless. There are new bucket seats from TMI Products with white leather and houndstooth upholstery, and other comfort-oriented upgrades, such as a custom center console, cup holders, air conditioning, a Billet Specialties steering wheel with a tilt steering column, and power windows. Various gauges are present too, such as a Dakota digital dash with readouts for the tachometer, speedometer, oil pressure, and more. Last but not least, there’s a modern sound system, consisting of a Kenwood head unit with various functions (AM/FM radio, CD, AUX, USB, etc.) and Kenwood speakers.
Under the hood, you’ll find a 6.2-liter LS3 V8 engine, which is the engine used by models including the 2008 Corvette. The LS3 pairs to a 6-speed T56 manual transmission, which sends power to the heavy duty 12-bolt rear differential. This Camaro features a host of other performance-oriented upgrades, such as the aluminum radiator, electric cooling fans, power disc brakes with drilled and slotted rotors at all four corners, and a fast-ratio rack and pinion steering system.
What do you think of this pro-touring Camaro RS/SS?
