This is an ode to Corvette racing!
Back in 2007, GM and Chevrolet enlisted the help of Pratt & Miller to build a special street version of the Corvette C6R, which is one of the most successful GT1 cars. From this project, the C6RS was created, and became the only factory authorized build of the C6 Corvette, that was built post-production. This example from GT Motor Cars is a rare chance to get your grip on the steering wheel of one, so prepare your garage for its newest member.
The mission of the C6RS build was to create a street legal Corvette that was as close to the C6R GT1 as it could possibly be. Each of the seven cars started off life as a production spec Corvette C6 Z06 before becoming a car built to mimic the qualities of the road race C6R. Appropriately, the special build was debuted at the SEMA show, and Jay Leno became the first person to own one.
Every detail was considered to ensure the highest quality end result of the C6RS. The carbon fiber body panels, waterfall hood, louvered fenders, and widened rear fenders were handmade by Pratt & Miller. This car rolls on a set of custom BBS center-lock wheels, which are similarly to the ones found on the C6R. A custom air ride suspension gives this Corvette better handling characteristics and better feel than the Z06 models, and a custom leather wrapped roll bar reminds you of its racing roots. On the inside, you’ll find one-off custom “Caravaggio” Alcantara and Leather with yellow stitching throughout, and powered carbon fiber bucket seats.
Powering the Corvette is a one-off Katech built 8.2-liter engine that produces more then 600-horsepower. Backing the beefy engine a T56, six-speed manual transmission. Giving it the stopping power it needs is a set of Brembo brakes.
Although modeled after a race car, this Corvette is a great street driver that’s designed to give the driver ultimate control. Check it out here before someone else slides behind the seat first!
