This was one of nine charity auction cars featured at 2020 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale.
Each year since 2012, Chevrolet has built 69 examples of the COPO Camaro as a throwback to the original 1969 COPO Camaro, and each year these rare drag cars create immense buzz. For 2020, Chevrolet has bumped that number up to 70 to include this one-off version of the John Force Edition, which was auctioned off for charity at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. To date, five other modern COPO Camaros have been auctioned for various charities helping to raise close to $2 million for important causes, and this one-of-one John Force Edition added to that with a hammer price of $600,000!
This year's COPO charity auction will raise money for DonorsChoose.org, which is a charity that helps teachers and students across the U.S. It's like a GoFundMe page dedicated solely to schools, and it allows teachers, students and classrooms to post projects or needs in an effort to raise funds. And this one-off 2020 Chevrolet COPO Camaro John Force Edition will definitely helps raise some serious funds!
For 2020, the COPO Camaro is available in a wide variety of color options including a John Force-inspired design. This features a black and silver paint job with bright red accents – including Force's signature four times on the car's exterior alone! The coolest part of the design is the American flag ghost painted on the massive domed hood. This hood, of course, hides one of three engines available in the 2020 COPO, which in this case is the top option – a 350 CID LSX V8 packing a Magnuson supercharger and a 580 horsepower output. None of the COPO Camaros have traditional VIN numbers, but this charity auction car will have a distinctive identification plaque that reads "2020COPO-FORCE."
