Leake has new leadership as it heads into the upcoming auctions.
Leake leaders, Richard and Nancy Sevenoaks, are retiring and stepping down from their positions at Leake Auction Company, as the former Vice President of Barrett-Jackson steps in. The collector car auction business was launched by Nancy’s father in 1972, and that’s exactly where Bennett got started as a car collector.
Changes and expansions Bennett has in store for the Tulsa, Oklahoma-based business will include added auctions in Arizona and Florida, while dates are yet to be announced. Bennett had a long career with Barrett-Jackson, which he retired from in 2017, before joining the Leake team as a general manager.
“I am so excited to be back in my hometown of Tulsa, leading Leake Auction Company into the next stage of its history as a pioneer in the collector car industry,” Bennett was quoted in a press release from Leake and its owner, Ritchie Bros.
The Sevenoaks family sold Leake to Ritchie Bros., a major international heavy-equipment auction company, in January of 2018.
“Tulsa is a special place and Leake is a special company and with the strength of Ritchie Bros. as our owner, we expect to accomplish some amazing things here in Oklahoma and around the country,” Bennett added.
“The acquisition of Leake Auction Company, which has been utilizing IronPlanet’s online bidding software for two years, seems like a natural area for us,” a Ritchie Bros. executive offered. “We believe this will help us deepen brand loyalty with our customer base and introduce our auction expertise to a whole new sector and group of customers.”
The next Leake auction will take place on June 6th-8th at the River Spirit Expo in Tulsa, where Bennett will be in charge. Following this auction is another one in the winter in Dallas, TX from November 21-23. You can go ahead and check out their inventory on Motorious here.
