From classic Porsches to modern Ferraris, this collection has a little bit of everything.
As the 2019 Monterey Car Week approaches, Bonhams’ Quail Lodge Auction promises to deliver even more spectacular vehicles. Part of this auction is the 12-car collection of Ted Gildred, a California business man and former U.S. Ambassador to Argentina (from 1986 to 1989), who died earlier this year. This collection will be auctioned off at no reserve on August 15.
The collection is mostly comprised of rare Ferraris and Porsches including a beautiful 1966 Ferrari 330 GTC and a well-documented 1956 Porsche 356A 1500 Carrera GS Coupe. There's also a 1998 Ferrari F355 Spider with a gated shifter and a 1959 Porsche 356A 1600 Convertible D that was one of just 1,331. If you're not into Ferraris and Porsches, the Gildred collection still has plenty to offer like the race-ready 1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Competizione Spider or the 1950 Oldsmobile 88 street rod packing a 470-horsepower, 455 CID V-8 under the hood!
All told, Bonhams estimates that this collection is valued somewhere between $2.7 million and $3.3 million! Check out the cars and values listed below, and if you're a Ferrari enthusiast, be sure to continue the conversation on these rare Ferraris over on FerrariChat.
