She's going to need a little work, though.
When it comes to eBay finds, they don't get much cooler than a classic Porsche barn find. That's exactly what we have here with this 1966 Porsche 912 that looks like it's spent far too long rotting away in someone's garage. There's no doubt this 912 is going to be an intense project, but it could be a serious collector car once the restoration is complete.
As cool as it would be to take on this project Porsche, there is plenty of downside. The car's condition is pretty rough with a faded paint job that goes way beyond cool patina, but it's probably better than you might typically find from a neglected, mid-Atlantic vehicle. The underside view exposes rotten floorboards, and the right rear fender is caved in due to a slow plow accident. On top of the obvious, the seller also states this Porsche will require a brake system overhaul and a new ignition switch.
It doesn't seem to be all bad news with this Porsche. According to the seller, the engine starts and runs, while the interior is said to be in good condition. Even better, the car has just over 100,000 miles on it, and the title is clean. From a collector's standpoint, this 912 might be a little more desirable since it was originally painted in the rare Bahama Yellow hue, which was a color used on a limited number of 912s. That has all since been covered with the white paint you see here, but there are spots where the original color shines through.
Despite being produced in relatively large numbers (for a classic Porsche), there is still plenty of collectibility in these 912s. Considering this car's condition, the Buy It Now price of $17,500 seems a bit steep, so it will be interesting to see if there are any takers for this immense project. There's still plenty of time to find out since the listing expires on Dec. 25th.
