Ringbrothers has created what could just be the greatest pick-up truck ever – a customized Chevrolet K5 Blazer
Messing about with the pick-up truck formula is always dangerous. As a symbol of Americana and all things freedom, should you molest the age-old recipe and get it wrong; there will be literal hell to pay. However, Ringbrothers has got it spot on.
The company’s 1972 AMC Javelin AMX, unveiled last year, continues to mesmerise petrolheads across the land. But their new vehicle is something else – a 1971 Chevrolet K5 Blazer.
Unveiled on Tuesday during the 2018 SEMA show, the Blazer lays claim as the first SUV from the company’s exclusive stable. The Blazer may play second fiddle to other brands and models on the classic scene, but that could just be about to change…
Ringbrothers are renowned for dealing with classic muscle, so therefore it shouldn’t come as any surprise to find that they've have created a monster.
Called ‘The Seaker’, the new K5 Blazer boasts an aggressive stance, 1-inch lift kit, 17-inch wheels, chunky off-road tyres and thick ‘sport bars’. It’s not all customization, though. The suspension is mostly stock with only shock absorbers and sway bars upgraded.
Stepping into the cabin, the interior keeps an overall retro feel with brown leather and custom dash incorporating old-school gauges from Dakota Digital. Open the bonnet and you’ll find a 6.2-litre, General Motors’ LS3 V8 burbling away, mated to a four-speed automatic. There’s also a Holly Dominator management system and Flowmaster exhaust. The result? 430 horses.
The Ford Bronco has dominated the restomod market when it boils down to pick-up trucks, but that could be about to change if the Blazer is well received – especially as Chevrolet are launching a new Blazer from January 2019.
SEMA runs until November 2, having started on October 30 – so if you fancy attending, you’ll need to head over to Las Vegas ASAP. You can find out more about the event here.
