This Camaro is a lot to take in, but it's also one-of-a-kind
Fans of Reeves Callaway recognize him and Callaway Cars as the entity behind some extremely custom Corvettes, but other vehicles have gotten the Callaway treatment, from time to time. This made over Camaro is one such example. Style changes made to the 1993 Camaro C-8 prototype made it barely recognizable as an F-Body at all when we pulled up the eBay ad.
Once called the “World’s Baddest Camaro” by Motor Trend, this 1998 Camaro Z/28 is one of the most widely promoted fourth gens ever created. Now, this low mileage magazine cover car is looking for a new home, and it might take a special kind of enthusiast to appreciate the body and engine work that’s been done to this thing.
The Camaro C8 spent the better part of the 1980s on display. It was featured at the 1994 Chicago Auto Show, SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Charlotte Auto Fair, and the Moroso Speedway Super Chevy Show.
Located in Fort Lauderdale, FL, the Camaro comes with a Buy It Now price of $33,000, with the option to make the owner an offer below that. The car only has 1135 miles on the clock, and you’ve got to wonder how many of those were spent on testing and promotional purposes. It’s also quite clear from the photos that this car has been babied by the original owner who sent it to Callaway to begin with, and who is now selling it after two decades of hibernation.
Its re-styled look, especially up front, is probably a little too much for Camaro enthusiasts, but it does have a killer powertrain that puts out 404bhp from a stroked 383ci LT1 engine, and is backed by a six-speed T56 manual transmission that feeds into a 'Performance ratio' rearend, whatever that means. If you don’t mind the staring, it’s probably a really fun car to drive, but it’s more likely to find a home in a museum, or private car collection.
