Based on a 2018 Ford Mustang V8 Convertible, this tuned pony car will put the wind in your hair
Some people mock those who decide to buy a convertible Mustang, making jibes about how it’s a ‘girl’s car’ and how it isn’t a manly Mustang. Well, prepare to have such shortsighted comments shutdown by this seriously potent pony car. This 2018 Ford Mustang Petty’s Garage King Edition packs some power, all while its occupants enjoy the sunshine.
Being offered by Streetside Classics, this Mustang immediately makes a statement with its meshed grille and trunk spoiler detailing the GT profile. The deep shade of red that envelops this model is accompanied by contrasting black decals and HRE FlowForm alloy wheels for a truly devilish appearance. Combine all of that with the 2018 Mustang’s hood vents and raked headlights, and you’ve got a great looking convertible. Roof up or down, this Mustang means business.
It wouldn’t be a Petty’s Garage special without having a few new toys under the skin… An extra 29 RWHP has been granted to the naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 motor via some custom calibration. Swapping cogs comes curtesy of a 10-speed automatic transmission. A new Cold Air Kit, Magnaflow catback exhaust, additional bracing, coil-over suspension, and some sticky tires all serve to boost overall performance.
The cabin also hosts some Petty’s Garage signature items such as embroidered headrests, illuminated door sills, and a distinctive blue shifter ball. These enhancements aren’t too overbearing like those found on some modified Mustangs, meaning that the car’s day-to-day usability hasn’t been compromised. Other luxuries fitted include cruise control, rear parking camera, heated seats, and satellite radio.
The V8 Mustang in question has covered just 6,619 miles from new, making it still a relatively factory fresh car. $54,995 will buy you a great ‘wind in your hair’ experience ready for the summer. Considering Petty’s Garage reputation for creating performance cars, this King Edition won’t disappoint.
