This beautiful 1947 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith is far more regal than any modern luxury car
For over 100 years Rolls-Royce has been the automotive benchmark for luxury, refinement, and quality. In fact, the phrase ‘the Rolls-Royce of…’ is common parlance when talking about something of the finest standard. This 1947 Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith listed by Art & Speed is a fantastic period example if the British model.
Looking sophisticated in a two-tone paint scheme of grey and black, this Silver Wraith proudly displays the Spirit of Ecstasy on its nose. Featuring beautifully elegant coachwork from Hooper, the regal classic is dominated by its upright front grille and lengthy hood. This example is wearing a set of Firestone Deluxe Champion white wall tires in order to maintain its 1940s look in the modern era.
The advert notes that its tan leather interior could do with a little tidy up, but nothing that a light bit of restoration couldn’t resolve. Copious amounts of handcrafted wood lines the interior along with plenty of carpeting for a homely feel inside.
Rear occupants are treated to large armchair configured seating, plenty of space to relax, and the privacy afforded by the generous C-pillar. It might be 72 years old, but this grand vehicle still knows how to impress.
Under the hood is its original 4.3-liter inline six-cylinder engine, complete with a Stomberg Aerotype 2 barrel carburetor. A four-speed manual transmission effortlessly whisks this Rolls-Royce’s occupants away. The car’s odometer reads 56,092 miles, however, Art & Speed will have more information on the model’s history.
Instead of buying a modern luxury car that’s churned from a mass production factory, why not become a member of high society with this prestigious Rolls-Royce Silver Wraith? Its current asking price is $67,900 and with a little bit of tender loving care, the classic Wraith could be something really special.
