Would grab this supercar or pass on it?
Sometimes you run across a diamond in the rough, or a German supercar on eBay. This 2015 Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach at first glance certainly is enough to make anyone stop and notice. After all, Porsche only made 918 of these amazing vehicles, so coming across one isn’t horribly common. That rarity helps explain the Buy It Now Price of $1,695,800, but is this Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach really worth that much?
First off, if you don’t know that what makes the Porsche 918 Spyder special goes way beyond the relatively small production run. As you can clearly see, this supercar looks fantastic, but it also packs a super-potent hybrid powertrain. A 4.6-liter V8 provides 608-horsepower, while two electric motors contribute 286-horsepower. While the car might use either the gasoline engine or electric motors to move, if you press the accelerator pedal all the way, both combine for maximum output and a burst of acceleration.
The Weissach package was only used on 162 Porsche 918 Spyders. More than anything, it’s a lightweighting measure. When installed, it takes the supercar’s curb weight of 3,715 pounds and drops it to 3,616 pounds. Among the weight-shedding measures are magnesium wheels, ceramic wheel bearings, and titanium chassis bolts. This package also adds aero enhancements. With all these enhancements installed, the Porsche can do 0-60 in a blistering 2.5 seconds, faster than the McLaren P1.
When it comes to this particular car, there’s even more going on. Wearing a Paint-to-Sample Grey with Guards Red accents, over a Black and Acid Weissach interior makes this 918 one of a kind. No other in the world comes with this color combination.
Quite a few factory options have been added to this vehicle, like a carbon-fiber roof, glovebox delete, front axle lift system, Acid Green stripes on the seatbelts, and a number of exterior parts made of carbon fiber.
The eBay seller states this Porsche has 4,940 miles on the odometer. From the pictures it looks clean. Ultimately, you have to decide if this one-of-a-kind Porsche 918 Spyder Weissach is worth almost $1.7 million or if that price is a little too steep. You should know values for the 918 Spyder have been on a pretty steep decline for about the past year, but that could mean you’re buying low and could hold on until values increase again.
