This European has the heart of an American.
Most people wouldn’t expect a supercar made in Europe to be packing an LS7 V8, but that’s exactly what you get with this 2009 Ultima GTR. Manufactured in Leicestershire, England by Ultima Sports Ltd., buyers could order it either as a kit or as a turnkey vehicle which was assembled in the factory. This vehicle was a turnkey, and it came with the recommended setup of a GM LS7 mated to a Porsche 5-speed manual transmission.
As you can clearly see, this is a proper supercar with the engine mounted mid-ship. The design allows for optimal handling, instead of the vehicle being out of balance with the engine sitting forward. Helping further with handling is the full spaceframe, carbon-fiber double-element rear wing, and four-pot brake calipers.
Not only does it handle well, Ultima claims the GTR is “the quickest accelerating and decelerating supercar of all time.” It holds multiple world speed records, including spanking some big name supercars on the Top Gear test track, so if you want a solid performer for the street or track, this is an excellent choice to make.
Yellow is a fantastic color for a supercar, and it looks great on this one. Black is a natural pairing, so the interior doesn’t clash with the exterior in the least. In addition, numerous exterior trim pieces are black as well, including the rear wing.
You can’t order an Ultima GTR either as a kit or turnkey from the factory anymore. Production ran from 1999 to 2016, so the only way to enjoy the supercar now is to grab one like this which has already been assembled. You can still get spare parts from Ultima, but the company has moved on with new designs like the RS supercar.
