You don’t need to win the lottery to experience the famous Cobra.
Who hasn’t looked at a Shelby Cobra and fantasized about what driving one would feel like? Wonder no more, because this 2005 ASVE Factory Five Cobra is one of the best replicas of the roadster to date. It’s the closest you can get without selling everything you own and living in a van down by the river.
This car takes an aggressive approach for styling, while still keeping everything classy. A nice, neutral silver paint job creates the perfect backdrop for black twin racing stripes, as well as black trim pieces like the fender vents, headlight bezels, and windshield frame. Black retro-inspired wheels with BF Goodrich Radial T/A tires wrapped around them show this car means serious business.
Under that famously curvaceous hood sits modern power. A 5.0-liter Coyote V8 from Ford provides the kind of reliability you really want, plus it hits hard so you can rocket down straightaways without hesitation. Glorious sounds explode from the beefy dual side exhaust pipes, just like on the original car. While you benefit from all the fun of rear-wheel drive, an automatic transmission takes the stress out of driving this roadster.
While the rollover hoop on the driver’s side helps provide some protection when you’re racing on the track or even just cruising through town, you also benefit from Simpson safety restraints. The seats themselves feature plenty of padding, so you could conceivably take this roadster out for a longer drive or do plenty of hot laps without stopping and not regret that decision later. A nice wood steering wheel, B&M center console-mounted shifter, and white-faced gauges complete the classic-inspired interior layout.
