Absolutely legendary in Porsche lore, this 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera RS is an automotive unicorn for many collectors and enthusiast. Unveiled back in 1991, this limited-production, lightweight, high-performance version of the 964 C2. It was created to satisfy demand for a successor to the Carrera RS 2.7 and 3.0 from 1973 to 1975, a legacy many feel it lived up and maybe even exceeded.
This model is a stripped-down version of the RS, called a Lightweight, and is that much more desirable for its increased performance. Lacking frills and many creature comforts, this Porsche was created for one primary purpose: to carve up tracks and public roads with ferocity. Driving such a car is a gripping, immersive experience leagues away from the cushy, tech-heavy rides of today.
Everyone will be impressed by the well-kept Guards Red on Black and Grey, with this Porsche 911 looking clean and highly presentable throughout. In fact, the Cosmoline coating applied in the factory is still present and intact. This car rides on the original magnesium wheels, which look immaculate. At just 34,000 miles on the clock, it’s obvious someone enjoyed this ride but recognized its special nature, which would be difficult to miss.
Driving this car is the numbers-matching original engine and transmission, so you’re getting the fully-authentic experience. If you look at the undercarriage, the seller says there’s no damage from bottoming out, plus this car hasn’t been used in winter conditions. A 100-cell cat has been installed in the exhaust, along with a Cup car cross pipe. New brake rotors and pads have also been put in recently.
When all was said and done, Porsche made just 2,276 964 RS cars. Out of those 1,910 were Lightweights, so this car is a rare bird indeed. No matter the size or composition of your car collection, this would be a tremendous vehicle to add.
