Highly desirable, this car is almost sure to keep climbing in value.
Back in the 1980s Porsche noticed that tuners like Kremer and Ruf were successfully transforming 911s into Slantnoses in imitation of the Porsche 935 race car. Rather than fight it, the automaker decided to join the party by offering the look as an option for the 930 Turbo. Not many grabbed at the chance, thanks to the steep price of the option, making them quite rare. In fact, this 1988 Porsche 911 Turbo Slantnose being offered through Ideal Classic Cars is one of only 160 in existence. Today, collectors recognize the unique value of these models, so they command high prices which will in all likely only continue to increase.
Lovingly referred to also as the Porsche 911 Turbo Flachbau, this car comes out of the personal collection of Michael Lombardo for the first time ever. It’s a true factory steel US spec Slantnose, or 505, and not an aftermarket kit. A correct coat of Schwarz (Black) gives the exterior of this ride an appropriately sinister appearance. While not factory equipment, the 17-inch three-piece wheels are custom-made.
Sitting in the rear is a potent 3.3-liter turbocharged flat-six engine with an upgraded aftermarket turbo as well as a GReddy boost controller for even more performance lift. Bolted up to the engine is a 4-speed manual transmission bolted up. There’s a factory-optional limited-slip differential. Also included in this nice setup is a titanium exhaust system, water-to-air polished intercooler, four-piston Brembo brake calipers, and cross-drilled rotors.
Looking almost perfect, the Silver-Grey leather interior is impressive and features a Momo steering wheel plus shift knob. Quite a few rare factory options are included in this car, like the sunroof and Porsche alarm system. Both front seats have power adjustments. A premium Alpine sound system includes a 2-CD changer and amp. You’ll note the VDO gauges are a custom color to match the upholstery, a nice touch.
