Despite its black paint job and attempts to be a sleeper, the Buick Grand National has always been known as one of the best performance cars to come out of the 1980s. The turbocharged Grand National was around from 1984 until 1987, and GM saved the best for last when it came to the 1987 model year. All of these Grand Nationals were powered by a 3.8-liter turbocharged V6, but it's the 1987 Grand National that had the highest output of 245 horsepower – up 45 hp from the 1984 model and almost double the output of the original, non-turbocharged 1982 Grand National. Of course, the Grand National is easy to spot with its blacked-out exterior and unique turbocharger-inspired badges.
While some Grand Nationals were hoarded away and others modified and abused, this 1987 Buick Grand National has been well preserved and maintained over the years. The odometer is showing a little over 60,000 miles, but the original engine was recently rebuilt to make sure this car will keep running strong and smooth for years to come. The interior of this Grand National is even better than the outside with no wear showing on the steering wheel or the original cloth seats.
