These classic Land Cruisers are good-looking and incredibly functional.
While some people think all classic cars have to be treated gently, this 1981 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser is one tough cookie. Built to last and take on rugged terrain, there’s a reason why these FJ40s are highly sought after today. The bad news is quite a few have succumbed to accidents and the destructive forces of corrosion, but this one is looking good and is ready to take you anywhere. If you’re serious about these vintage off-roaders, Worldwide Vintage Autos is handling the sale of this one.
This particular Land Cruiser wears Cherry Red paint, which overall is looking quite nice. There are some blemishes, which the dealer rightly points out instead of trying to hide that, but for the age of this rig it’s not bad at all. More importantly, there aren’t any signs of rust visible in the photos, plus the body panels look nice and straight. A white roof and front grille surround, steel bumpers, factory side mirrors, and other details make this Toyota a good-looking vehicle. It rolls on black wheels with chrome hubcaps and B/F Goodrich tires which look either new or very close to new.
Sometimes FJ40s have nice-looking exteriors and scary interiors, but this one has obviously had some work done to make the inside clean and presentable. The dash, doors, and other areas are that rich Cherry Red, while a black dash topper and grey door panels add some softness to the space. Vintage gauges are a nice touch. A roll bar is nice reassurance for just in case. Weatherproof mats throughout mean you can track in mud, slush, or whatever else without worry. Both front bucket seats have what appears to be new or newer upholstery, plus there’s a center console. Rear jump seats are included as well.
Even the engine compartment is as clean as the exterior. You also get a four-speed manual transmission, four-wheel drive, power steering, and power brakes for the ultimate in control on or off the road.
A clean FJ40 doesn’t last long these days, so don’t be surprised if this one sells out from under you if you don’t do something soon. For specific questions about the vehicle or to make an offer, contact Worldwide Vintage Autos directly. You can also consign your vehicle through the dealership, if you’re looking to offload something as well.
