Outfitted with a V8 engine and more, this is a true go-anywhere machine.
The legend of the Toyota FJ40 is huge, larger than life, so much that some wrongfully believe there’s no improving on the SUV. What this 1972 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser proves is you can push such a classic to a new level of performance with the right modifications.
A true restomod, this Land Cruiser is wearing more than big tires and a lift. Under the hood is a 350ci Chevrolet V8 crate engine, which hits way harder and provides far more torque than the stock setup. An Edelbrock intake and 4bbl carb help with proper breathing. Thankfully, this engine is mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. As the driver you get to manage two additional sticks for the transfer case, which is part of the secret of how this Toyota can go pretty much anywhere you dream up.
All that ground clearance under this vehicle is another huge advantage. A spring-over-axle front suspension conversion and a shackle replacement for the rear sports springs help with managing rugged terrain. The Tom Woods driveshafts have been customized for this Toyota, as has an aluminum fuel cell. The chassis has been painted black and is free from rust.
Providing all kinds of awesome grip are Super Swamper IROC 37X14X15LT tires with huge knobs and voids, perfect for getting through sand, mud, and snow. All five of those tires are mounted to 15x10 polished aluminum wheels. Olive paint and black trim pieces, including a black roof, give this truck the appropriately outdoorsy look.
As you should suspect, the interior in this restomod vehicle has some nice additions, like electric air conditioning, air-heated seats, and plenty of sound-deadening materials. Thanks to the Dakota digital gauge cluster, you can keep a close eye on how this rig is performing on the trail. In addition, an audio and navigation system adds some extremely modern conveniences to this classic ride.
Even among FJ40s, this one is truly unique. If you want this monstrous Toyota off-roader, contact Classic Auto Mall, which is arranging the sale.
