This American muscle car is truly special.
While the name and even the badging on this 1970 Dodge Super Bee might seem comical, there’s not much to laugh about, unless you’re thinking about leaving the competition in the dust. This is a serious American muscle car that’s become quite collectible, and no doubt will continue to appreciate in value for the foreseeable future. While Super Bees become available every once in a while, this one is in exceptional condition. It also packs the potent V-code Six Pack 440ci V8, of which only 599 hardtops from 1970 were made. That makes this not only a serious performance car but also a rare bird.
This is a car made for drivers. The Hurst Pistol Grip shifter attached to the A833 Chrysler 4-speed manual transmission makes that clear. So does the 3.55 Sure Grip Dana rear, so you can hook up and get going in a hurry at the track or on the street. All that power gets the Magnum 500 wheels spinning in a hurry. Power brakes, including front discs, help you keep everything well under control.
Styling for the 1970 model year was tweaked quite a bit, all in an effort to make it different from the Coronet. The Ramcharger hood with its twin scoops is one of the most obvious elements of this effort, plus it was functional and featured a seal between the scoops and carb for optimal performance. A nice coat of High Impact Top Banana Yellow also makes a loud and clear statement, as does the front Super Bee badge and rear C-strip with bee graphics.
If you want even more bravado, this car delivers. Instead of a boring black interior, you get white bucket seats. A performance dash with wood-grain trim, plus AM radio and Tic-Toc-Tach are all period-correct.
