That Hugger Orange paint hugs every curve just right.
GR Auto Gallery is excited to announce this custom-built 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 for sale. Get a feel of that powerful vintage ZL1 performance with many smiles per gallon to boot. This Camaro was sold new at Bill Barnet Chevrolet of Compton, California and has remained in the West-Coast state until it was acquired by a collector from Michigan 14 years ago. As an avid car enthusiast and speed demon, he enjoyed building high-quality and fast cars that were equally set up with the proper handling, braking, and drivability. The 1969 Camaro ZL1 you see here is a real testament to his attention to detail from the inside out.
The motor for this built was found at a Michigan dealership service department as a complete unit. The motor and heads were fully disassembled, evaluated, and prepped for the project. The entire process has been documented through photographs. The engine is said to deliver a whopping 600 horsepower at the crank. All this power is transferred via a fortified GM Turbo 400 transmission with 3,500 stall converter, and applied by a 12-bolt posi-traction rear end with 3.73 gears. This car breathes loads of power as it is fed by a Holley 750 CFM dual-feed carburetor. The aluminum block was built with NOS L-88 crank and rotating assembly. The entire motor was meticulously blueprinted, built, and balanced to the T.
Aside from its awe-inspiring power, this 1969 Chevy Camaro ZL1 boasts beautiful cosmetics, bodywork, and an overall eye-catching appearance. The California body was completely stripped to bare metal; all of the current sheet metal that remains is factory original or NOS. This Camaro was treated to a full nut-and-bolt rotisserie restoration. The fit and finish is admirable, as is the attention to detail. What’s more, that vibrant Hugger Orange exterior paint was accented with a splash of pearl effect that takes it to new heights. The color looks immaculate in any lighting and is a spotlight stealer for sure. Pull up to any car show or even the lot of a restaurant and watch as every head turns and all eyes are on you.
