About $35,000 was recently put into this V-12 powered Ferrari.
Built for power and luxury, the Grand Touring V12 Ferrari exudes utmost class but can throw down under throttle when necessary. Presented in its original colors and a a "matching numbers" drivetrain, European Collectibles is pleased to offer the opportunity to own this stunning and highly original 1968 Ferrari 365 GT 2+2 Coupe.
Completed in April of 1968, the car rolled off the assembly line finished in Agento Metallizzato (Silver Metallic) seen here. The paint is older so it shows some signs of patina, but the car is free of any major defects. Only a few minor dings are present on the car's straight and solid body.
Behind the doors of this vintage Ferrari coupe is a welcoming black leather interior that was recently freshened up with a deep clean. Due to the carpet showing its age, brand new carpet was laid down throughout. The power windows work perfectly thanks to a refresh of the motor and switches, and air conditioning keeps the cabin nice and cool.
As mentioned above, a 4.4-liter V12 engine sits under the hood and is backed by a 5-speed manual transmission. Four-wheel disc brakes easily bring all that power to a halt and partially hide behind powder-coated five-star Cromodora wheels that come wrapped with brand new rubber.
Built for the European market, this '68 Ferrari is a left-hand-drive model and was delivered brand new to an official dealer, Motor S.as. di Car Motor S.a.s. di Carla Allegretti e C., in Bologna, Italy. From there, it was purchased by a private owner, also from Bologna. Later on, the car was exported to Beverly Hills, California, where it resided with another private owner from 1985 to 2010 where it was well-maintained.
In 2010, the car was sold to another enthusiasts out of South California, and it was transported to Aspen to be used as a summer cruiser. Unfortunately, the car wasn't driven much and the list of maintenance concerns started to grow. That's when the vintage Ferrari was sent off to Dugan Enterprises in Oceanside, California, where its powerful V12 engine was given the full treatment.
During its stay at Dugan, the carburetors were removed and then inspected, cleaned, and serviced. Also, the spark plugs were removed to lubricate the cylinders and piston rings, and everything was mechanically overhauled and serviced. After that, approval was given for Dugan to rebuild the engine's top end. All intake and exhaust valves were replaced, and the cylinder heads were lightly surfaced and given new valve guides and seals. Other mechanical highlights include an overhauled water pump, all new seals and gaskets, new fuel tank crossover hoses, a rebuilt alternator, and a new battery and tender system. In addition, to keep the cooling fans running smoothly, they were inspected and cleaned, and it was given a new fan switch and electrical relays. Once everything was good to go, this classic Ferrari's V12 engine was assembled, tuned, and rearing to go.
Over the summer of 2019, about $35,000 was put into this vintage Ferrari with the receipts to back it up. It's safe to say that it runs and drives extremely strong, and would make the perfect addition to anybody's collection or garage.
