For the 1968 model year, the Chevrolet Corvette was completely redesigned to start the third generation widely known as the C3. MBP Motorcars is here to offer you the very first C3 known to ever exist - this 1968 Chevrolet Corvette. That's right, this historic C3 proudly boasts VIN #0002.
Changes were aplenty as Chevy started moved to the third generation for the 1968 model year. Coupes said goodbye to fastback windows which were replaced with removable back windows and T-tops. Pop-up headlights were no longer electrical but now vacuum operated. Door openers were given push buttons to access the interior, an option only used on the 1968 model.
The first C3 was given a nut and bolt, body-off restoration. This classic still retains its original body and was repainted in Corvette Bronze, and the inside features dark orange vinyl. The interior was given Astro-Ventilation" for improved airflow throughout the cabin, and a new fiber-optic monitoring system was embedded in the dash.
The original numbers-matching drivetrain was given CCAS affirmation, a L79 327cui V8 is rated at 350-horsepower. A Muncie M21 four-speed manual transmission shifts power down to the rear wheels.
Ownership history of the this vintage Vette has been documented since it came off the dealership lot back in the late '60s. It also comes with the original Protecto plate, owners manual, radio card, restoration receipts and photos, first 15 1968 Corvette shipping data reports, and judging sheets.
