This classic looks great and hits hard where it counts.
While everyone has Mustang fever, cars like this 1967 Mercury Cougar are sometimes unfortunately forgotten. A close cousin to the famous pony car, the Cougar provided a nice mix of solid performance, stylish design, and upgraded luxuries. This one is in great condition and is looking for a new garage to call home, which you could provide.
If this Mercury Cougar looks even remotely familiar, it might be the Pepper Gray Metallic paint. It’s the same color used on Eleanor, and the effect is big. No visible signs of blemishes are evident on the body panels, which are all straight and have consistent panel gaps. The black vinyl top is in excellent condition, matching the paint. All factory badging is present and in good repair.
Aluminum alloy wheels feature Shelby emblems while Cooper Cobra Radial G/Ts are wrapped around them. One of the most unique attributes of the Cougar is that rear end with the super wide and distinct taillights you’re just not going to find on other cars.
Sitting under that long hood is a 302 cubic inch V8. Since it’s mated to a C-4 automatic transmission, this is a car that just about anyone could drive. A high-performance aluminum radiator helps guard against overheating in the summer months, boosting reliability.
Just like the exterior, the black vinyl interior is in solid shape. No tears, splits, or cracking is present in the seats. Factory gauges, controls, and steering wheel are all still in their respective places.
Launched in 1967, the Mercury Cougar was supposed to be the more luxurious take on the Ford Mustang. The luxurious muscle car was a success, being named Motor Trend’s Car of the Year for 1967. Now is your chance to own a piece of American muscle car history. This classic Mercury Cougar is being offered for purchase through Ideal Classic Cars LLC.
