A beautifully restored classic gem that can fit the whole family.
The Chevy Bel Air Nomad was a Tri-Five wagon model that started production in 1955 and continued to 1972. The Nomad name was attached to the Bel Air because Chevy believed they could sell more models with that namesake. GAA Classic Car Auctions is offering the opportunity to own this beautifully restored 1955 Chevrolet Bel Air Nomad. This vintage beaut will cross the auction block on Saturday, November 8th.
Glance over the gorgeous exterior to the original Shoreline Beige over Gypsy Red. Chrome spears adorned to the front fenders and chrome window moldings further enhanced the wagon's aesthetic. Factory wire wheel covers further complement the outside of this vintage wagon. Open the two doors to an immaculate period-correct interior with red-and-white waffle pattern vinyl upholstery. Other goodies inside include a wonder bar signal-seeking AM radio, electric clock, heater and defroster, and E-Z-Eye tinted glass. Although it was only equipped with two doors, the classic featured ample room throughout the cabin and fit six passengers.
Under the hood sits an overhead-valve 265cui V8 engine topped with a four-barrel carburetor and given an output of 162-horsepower to the brakes. A 3-speed manual transmission behind the engine shifted everything down to the rear wheels. A coil-spring independent front suspension and a live rear axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs have this classic handling like a dream. Power hydraulic drum brakes on all four corners halt the car with ease.
