This is the car you take for tours or other events.
British roadsters have a certain allure, and this 1955 Austin-Healey 100-4 certainly encapsulates why that is. With attractive looks and a fun-to-drive nature, this is the car you take for a weekend of pure fun. At the moment this Austin-Healey is available through Carlisle Auctions, so it might not just be something to drool over.
A comprehensive restoration that was completed back in 1983 certainly has aged well, testifying to the pampered life this car has lived. In fact, the owner is supplying stacks of receipts and other records, so you know exactly what you’re getting into. In addition, a Heritage Certificate will be supplied, ensuring this car is the real deal and not some clever replica.
These Austin-Healey 100-4 convertibles are quite rare, and as you can imagine finding one looking this good is even more unique. Everything is clean as a whistle outside, in, and even in the engine compartment. You’ll note the Red paint shines up nicely, just like the gleaming chrome on the bumpers, that iconic grille, and elsewhere.
All the right details are present, from a Black soft top that’s in great repair to the chrome knock-off wire wheels. Fresh Vredesteins provide the right level of grip for some spirited driving on the road, plus there’s a spare tucked away in the trunk. The requisite leather strap to hold the hood, or if you prefer the bonnet, down is also present and looks to be in good condition. The Black interior is offset by Red accent piping on the seats, a really nice detail to make this car feel a little more special.
Running strong, this Austin-Healey had its carburetors, generator, and brakes rebuilt. The original 3-speed transmission has been swapped out for a 4-speed manual, making this car even more pleasant for highway travel.
Life is far too precious to waste your time on boring cars. While not a drag strip champion by any means, this 1955 Austin-Healey 100-4 is a blast to drive. It’s also rare and very collectible. If you want to bid on it, register through Carlisle Auctions.
