A truly rare British icon.
AutoBarn Classic Cars occasionally consigns a rare MGB or Triumph and today is one of those days. This 1952 MG TD Roadster is very rare and expected to sell rather quickly. It’s a completely different class of English sports car and created quite the American demand in the early fifties. These vehicles were an affordable way to really enjoy the open roads and feel the wind in your hair. At the time of this writing, the 1952 MG TD Roadster you see here is being offered for sale at $24,995. That is a pretty great price to own a piece of ‘50s automotive history, especially one with just 24,491 miles on it.
This TD Roadster received a full, top-shelf professional restoration by the current owner. The body was refinished in 2012 in Bright Red and is in immaculate condition, or excellent nick as the Brits would say. All of the brightwork is exceptional and shines just as it did on day one. The interior was also completely redone in black vinyl with fitted carpets and a refinished wooden dashboard. The Jager (speedometer and tachometer) and Lucas gauges work just as they should. The black top is like-new and provides some shade and protection from the weather with its side curtains.
The matching-numbers 1250cc OHV four-cylinder engine was rebuilt in 2017 and is paired to a factory four-speed manual transmission. Throw it into gear and hear the sweet purr. The previous owner is also including a hand crank for the new owner. The car features rack and pinion steering with independent coil spring front suspension and solid axle/leaf springs in the rear. The 54 horses unleashed from this roadster are put to a stop via a hydraulic four-wheel drum brake system. The MG TD vehicles were equipped with steel wheels and hubcaps. They are wrapped in Nexen 165x80x15 radial tires.
Don’t let someone beat you to the punch. This British icon is sure to put a smile on your face time and time again – whether you are driving it or just admiring it in your garage. Call today and make it yours!
