This classic packs a little bit of a performance upgrade.
Chevrolet has been dedicated to automotive performance for some time, as can be clearly demonstrated through this 1950 Chevrolet Deluxe Street Rod. While the styling is obviously heavily influenced by the 1930s, as was the case with American cars right after World War II, the muscular stance is backed by a pretty hot setup for the time. Now this historic, amazing vehicle could be sitting in your garage.
Smuggled under that stately hood is a 350ci V8, which is an upgrade from the original setup. It sends plenty of power surging to the rear wheels, making this Chevy pretty hot. The car also comes with the 2-speed Power Glide automatic transmission, which was brand new for 1950.
People initially will be impressed by the exterior presentation of this Chevy. A silky black paint job has been shined up nicely, and it doesn’t show any major flaws. The same can be said for the brightwork, which strategically highlights different portions of the car. A body-colored windshield brow with chrome trim adds a nice, period-correct detail. Polished steel wheels and black sidewall tires keep the overall appearance of this car fairly simple.
For the interior, there are tan cloth bench seats, which look like they’ve been redone recently. Green carpeting adds an interesting detail, and rubber floormats are included. The dash shows signs of wear on the paint, but everything is original, along with the steering wheel.
From 1941 to 1952, Chevrolet offered the Deluxe trim line of cars. While it received a major style updated in 1949, the design of the car was still heavily influenced by the 1930s, thanks to the war. One big change was the addition of a hardtop coupe to the lineup, like this particular car. A few minor styling changes, like the deletion of the three horizontal bars in the grille, were also introduced. This classic Chevy is available through AutoBarn Classic Cars.
