That red-on-red paint job is stunning!
Due to the highly subjective nature of hot rods, it's always interesting to see where these cars sell at auction, and this fiberglass-bodied 1935 Chevy three-window coupe was definitely on our radar. This custom Chevy rolled across the GAA Classic Cars auction today hammering for $36,000, which seems like a great buy considering the car's sleek styling, eye-catching paint work and modern driveline.
The fiberglass body from Downs Industries looks amazing with its wide, rounded fenders connected by the integrated running boards, but it's the paint job that puts this hot rod over the top. The front of the car is dark red, and that fades into a lighter shade of red with some cool flames, which stretch all the way back into the doors. The stance is helped by a set of five-spoke Foose wheels, and the sale of the car also includes a brand-new Alumicraft grille worth $2,500!
The inside of this street rod is just as custom, too, starting with the body-colored dash and white-faced gauges with the red Chevy bow-tie logo. Contrasting the bright red interior paint are the black carpet and black leather seats, and for added comfort, passengers can enjoy air conditioning and a center armrest. You still get modern conveniences like the SiriusXM Satellite radio, and the power-operated trunk lid hides the finished cargo compartment with a built-in CD changer.
Under the hood sits a 350 CID V8 that continues the car's attractive styling with plenty of chrome and exposed aluminum under the hood; the finned valve covers with red Chevy bow-tie logos are a fitting touch to this car. Thanks to electronic fuel injection and a four-speed automatic, this car would make for a perfect and reliable cruiser, while the Currie Enterprises rear end will ensure those rear tires can endure plenty of abuse.
If you missed out at buying this custom hot rod, there are plenty of classic and collector cars still up for grabs through GAA Classic Cars, so be sure you're registered to bid to buy your next dream car.
