This Deuce has been modified to the extreme details.
Back in the day, the Ford Deuce, or the 1932 Ford Roadster was the car of choice for hot rodders. Lightweight, easy to modify, and stylish in so many ways, it’s easy to see why it’s been so highly favored. Lest you think there’s a whole pack of these just floating around in America, remember that the 32 Roadster was made for just one year, and many haven’t survived to modern times. So this all-steel example being offered for sale through Grand Rapids Classics is pretty special, especially when you take into account its excellent condition and the highly detailed modifications.
When Flat Out Speed Shop posted on Instagram about this car as they were building it, the thing really caught fire. It’s easy to see why, considering the shop dropped a 350ci Chevy Small Block V8 crate engine into the Roadster. From there, a TH350 automatic transmission was bolted up, making this rod a little easier to handle on city streets and open highway stretches.
The car was purchased by someone in Texas, who decided to capitalize on an already impressive build by pushing fit and finish to the extreme. If you look at the details on this Ford, they’re quite amazing. You would be able to take this car to a show and stir up plenty of excitement, likely walking away with some sort of award.
Among the amazing details is the glass-like black paint and super-straight body panels. Custom-sewn spark plug wires are visible from the sides, thanks to the removed engine cowling. On the inside, you’ll note that included in the Relicate leather interior is a leather-wrapped fire extinguisher mount, something you’re more likely to see in a classic Italian car. The battery box cover has been disguised as a vintage suitcase.
Every once in a while, you’ll find a car customized this meticulously in the Grand Rapids Classics inventory, but it’s certainly not a common occurrence. There’s no telling if you’ll find another Ford Deuce that comes even close to this one in build quality. If you want to take the plunge and make an offer on this classic Roadster, contact the dealer.
