This Chip Foose-designed Mustang was a Grand Prize in the Ride to Remember sweepstakes by Mac Tools.
Most people know TV celebrity and car builder Chip Foose thanks to an addicting car show called Overhaulin’. What some people might not know is that Chip Foose designed a run of limited-edition Mustangs in collaboration with Foose Design, Unique Performance, and Ford Motor Company. Known as Foose Stallions, between 300-350 of these S197 Mustang GTs were offered during 2006-2007, and just a tiny fraction of that number were convertibles. This specific car was created for the “Ride to Remember” sweepstakes by Mac Tools.
With just 1,207 miles on the clock, this Mustang GT was hardly driven and obviously garage kept. From the factory assembly line, this low-mileage beauty already came equipped with power rack and pinion steering, power windows and locks, a power driver’s seat, and power four-wheel disc brakes. In addition, the car features air conditioning, a tilt steering column, and cruise control.
The Foose edition Mustangs have a few unique features that are dead giveaways such as special headlights and fog lamps, billet upper and lower grilles with a Foose logo, and special 20-inch five-spoke wheels. In addition, these cars are usually sprayed in a custom two-tone paint job. On top of that, Foose threw plenty of upgrades into the mix including an aluminum hood, 7-inch headlamp assemblies, a custom front and rear fascia, rear spoiler and endcaps, rocker cladding, a blackout trunk, custom-embroidered seats, leather console lid and shift boot, special gauges, door sill plates, floor mats, speak trim, switch bezel, and E-brake handle bezel.
A stout performer from the factory, these cars came equipped with a 4.6-liter V8 engine, and this particular example has a manual transmission. To enhance the performance, Foose editions were given a Ford Racing performance tuned exhaust, cold air intake with a re-calibrated ECM, larger cross-drilled and vented rotors, tuned coil springs, tuned stabilizer bars, and tuned struts and shocks.
